The Cultural and Historical Value of Pan Zhengwei's masterpieces Like Painting and Calligraphy of the Tingfang Building in Qing Dynasty

潘正炜是清代广州十三行著名行商。他编撰的《听帆楼书画记》、《听帆楼续刻书画记》等书,著录了唐宋至明清众多的精品书画,在鉴藏界具有重要的学术价值和权威的指南作用;还著录有历代书画名家、鉴藏家等文人雅士的题跋,也就兼具有美术史研究及人文历史研究的双重价值。

Pan Zhengwei was not only a famous Canton Hong merchant,but also a well-known connoisseur and collector in Guangdong in the Qing Dynasty. His edition of Paintings and Calligraphy of the Tingfang Building and its sequel,cataloguing the numerous fine calligraphy and paintings from Tang-song to Ming-qing dynasties,has important academic value and is also an authoritative guide to appreciating and collecting art works. In addition,these two books collected the inscriptive writings of outstanding painters and calligraphy masters,collectors and other scholars.
