I Saw: The Career Path of Li Baoqun Before He Reached the Peak

李宝群是当代中国剧坛中一位最值得关注,也是最有潜力的、最有前景的、最有未来的剧作家。在其三十多年的创作生涯中,创作的剧本达七十多部,其中被全国各地戏剧院团搬演的剧目四十多部。其剧作,四次入选国家舞台艺术精品工程十大精品,五获文华大奖,七获五个一工程奖,三获曹禺戏剧文学奖,两获话剧金狮奖;其作品既有话剧、儿童剧,也有歌剧、舞剧,既有工人系列、农民系列、军人系列,也有学生系列。他的戏剧创作具有几个不能忽视的重要特色:一是他的人文情怀,人文立场和对底层生命的悲悯情怀;二是锲而不舍地关注"人"、表现"人"、塑造"人",痴迷执着于塑造人物;三是其对现实主义创作精神的坚持与坚守;四是其对戏剧艺术各种可能性的不断探索。

Li Baoqun is one of China＇s most important contemporary playwrights. In his thirty years of career, he has created more than 70 plays, over 40 of which were performed on the stages of various theaters and troupes all over the country. His plays were four times selected as ＂National Stage Arts Project Top Ten Works＂, five times won the Wenhua Award, seven times won the Five ＂One＂ Project （ a good book, a good TV series, a good play, a good film, a good article） award, three times won Cao Yu Drama Literature Award, and twice won the Golden Lion award. His works cover all kinds of genres： drama, children＇s play, opera, dance drama, worker - themed series, farmer - themed series, sodier - themed series, and student - themed series. He is good at writing both the present life, ordinary people, and leaders, historical figures; he can create both big theater dramas and small theater dramas. His works cover so many areas and achieved so high success rate that rare domestic playwrights can compare with him. With his extensive writing experience and sophiscated writing skill, Li Baoqun has become a China＇s contemporary leader playwright. His representative works include： My Father, Days on Black Stone Mountain, Belief, Beginning of Spring, Men and Women on Ganzi Mountain, Snowstorm cross the Valley, Gutian Conference, Declaration of Life, The Fundamental of All Ages, Soldiers--A Big Issue of the Country, Long Night, and so on. There are four notale characteristics about Li Baoqun＇s dramatic creation： 1 ） there are some humanistic feelings, humanistic stance and sympathy for the people living at the bottom of society in his works; 2 ） Li Baoqun persists in showing concern for people, expressing human nature, and building classical characters; 3） he sticks to realism in his creation; 4） he has been constantly exploring the various possibilities of dramatic art.
