The New Year painting in the old times was an accretion of the rural folk culture, a symbol of the character of 'Year,'and a messenger to dispel evil and promote kindness and good fortune in the new year. When visitors came to pay a new year call on the night of the New Year Eve, the new paintings of primitive and adorned simplicity added to the festival atmosphere of prosperity and happiness to thousands of households. I fell for the New Year paintings since my early childhood, especially deeply fond of the Yangliuqing New Year paintings. It may be because of my enjoyment of painting when I was young and the resemblance of the Yangliuqing paintings to my crayons and my father's water colour paintings. It seems to be a most folk colour.Nowadays the traditional New Year paintings are all connected to fortune. Even the New Year paintings of cherubic babies holding goldfish were mingled with piles of RMB and gold ingots since the New Year paintings carry people's beautiflil wishes to worship nature, drive out the ominous and greet the auspicious, and celebrate the happiness. When the new year’s wall calendar was put on, my heart was always filled with the warm feelings of posting New Year paintings. It is the memory with the deepest feelings at the bottom of my heart to post the Fu(bliss) and New Year paintings that cater to people's hearts.
