Rem Koolhaas devotes lots of sections in 'Delirious New York' to introduce the history of Manhattan Skyscrapers' development, but pure research on architectural history is not his original intention to write. He consciously stay away from the traditional research techniques, replaced with the paranoid critical method to treat the piles of historical facts as evidences to support the 'realities' in his brain. Through critical reflection on key chapters in that book, the paper tries to outline the Manhattan skyscrapers' real nature, under Koolhaas's 'delusion', that as a single mechanism, they are the paradigms for the perfectly combination of 'needle and ball'.
