华夏,字中甫,号东沙,生于弘治甲寅（1494年）,卒于隆庆丁卯（1567年）,享年七十四1,为明时无锡最重要的收藏家之一,与文徵明、丰坊等人相交甚深。华夏早年师事王阳明,后因王阳明得罪刘瑾而受牵连,从此耽心收藏,搜罗名人法书、绘画以及碑帖善本,并专门建造一所真赏斋用以宝藏其宏富的藏品。文徵明、文彭父子曾为华夏精心钩摹了真赏斋中的钟繇《荐季直表》、王羲之《袁生帖》、王方庆《万岁通天帖》三件法书,由当时著名的刻帖名手章简甫镌刻成《真赏斋法帖》三卷,被誉为明刻帖第一。
Hua Xia is one of the important collectors in Wuxi during the Mid-Ming dynasty. His collection includes calligraphy, paintings, stone inscriptions and books. In his collection, calligraphy and painting are most abundant. Many famous artworks such as calligraphic copybook of Liu Zhongshi by Yan Zhenqin, four copybooks of ancient poems by Zhang Xun and a portrait of living in seclusion in mountain Bian by Wang Meng are all collected by him. The article hackles the painting and calligraphy collection of Hua Xia and reproduces his collection activities according to the annotations, seal and recorded historic literature of artworks to research the origin and fate of his collection.
