The Effects of OFDI Reverse Technology Spillover in China's Information Technology Industry: A Quantile Regression Study

本文采用2007~2013年我国电子信息百强企业中上市公司的面板数据,基于分位数回归方法实证检验了中国电子信息产业OFDI逆向技术溢出效应。研究发现,我国电子信息产业OFDI逆向技术溢出效应显著,且技术水平越高的企业,OFDI逆向技术溢出效应越强;相比于传统电子制造业,对技术水平要求更高的软件与信息技术服务业OFDI逆向技术溢出的效果更好。为此,本文作者提出鼓励企业积极走出去寻求技术、扶持产业内大型企业集团、注重提升企业技术吸收能力以及实施差别化OFDI战略的对策建议。

We used the 2007–2013 panel data of the top 100 Chinese listed companies in the information technology industry to perform an empirical analysis of the effects of OFDI reverse technology spillover via the quantile regression method. We find that the OFDI reverse technology spillover effect is significant in the Chinese information technology industry;and the effect is stronger in companies with more advanced levels of technology.In addition, the effects of OFDI reverse technology spillover is better in the software and information technology services industries – with their greater technological demands — than the more traditional electronic manufacturing industry.Based on these results, we suggest that policymakers encourage companies to seek out new technology actively and internationally; cultivate large companies within the industry; focus on improving companies＇ capacities to integrate new technology; and apply individualized OFDI strategies.
