On January 1,2016,with the melodious sound of the trombone from the Westgate Tower of Taierzhuang ancient city,the opening ceremony of 'Hospitable Shandong Taierzhuang Ancient City New Year Celebration' began in the rite of 'opening the blessing door'.After seven auspicious bell sounds,six drummers started to beat the dragon drum,and the entire ancient city was immersed in a joyful and peaceful atmosphere. 'Three years' demonstrations to restore the historical past;three years' constructions to infuse the features of those times.Adhering to the idea of retaining,restoring,promoting and utilizing historical sites,an ancient city appropriate for business and industry and characterized by food security and peace has been built.Assembling the features of nine provinces,it is spoken of as a museum of residential architecture;inheriting the Millennium heritage,it is called the living fossil of canal culture.' Along with Warsaw,the restored Taierzhuang ancient city is one of the only two cities which were destroyed during the Second World War and are now restored as World Cultural Heritage Sites.Mainly displaying teahouse,inn and intangible cultural heritages of Shandong along the canal,the entire ancient city has been built as an 'encyclopedia'.Combining 'Canal Culture' and 'War Culture' in a city and integrating 'Shandong boundless pride' with 'Southern elegance' in one,Taierzhuang ancient city is not only a humanistic attractive tourist destination but also a tourist resort and recreation area unique along the canal and famous in the world.
