On the “Becoming Full-grown” Significance of the Rite and Music Enlightenment

中华传统教育以礼乐教化为践履内容,以"知道"为宗旨,以"成人"为目的。礼仪教化修外,调整言行得体以立于礼;音乐教化修内,调养心身和谐以成于乐。中华传统教育蕴含的智慧文明本义,对当代学校教育走出工具化困境,具有重要的现实意义。

Chinese traditional education took the rite and music enlightenment as the teaching and prac-tice contents, to understand＂Tao＂for the purpose, with＂becoming full-grown＂for the objective. The rite en-lightenment beautified the external words and behavior to establish appropriateness. Music enlightenmentnursed the emotions to physical and mental harmony. The rite and music enlightenment is of vital practical sig-nificance to go out of the predicament of toolized tendency of the contemporary education.
