莫言小说中动词“闪烁”英译的体认机制与心理模型——兼论译者主客观互动体验理据性之二

Embodied-Cognitive Mechanisms and Mental Models for the Translation of the Verb Shanshuo in Mo Yan's Novels: Motivations for Translators' Subjectivity Interacting with Objectivity(Ⅱ)

本研究旨在探索莫言小说葛浩文译本中动词"闪烁"英译的范畴语义转移体认机制及其心理模型,以及译者主客观互动的理据性。结果发现,结合显性和隐性的语境参数,"闪烁"除了可译为十几种对应的基本范畴概念之外,还可译为多种多样的域内范畴概念和跨域范畴概念。为进一步阐释其运作机制以及译者主客观体验的理据性,本研究将体认语言学与心理模型理论有效融合到翻译学的研究,这不仅对成功译本有较强的解释力,而且为其他语词的翻译研究开拓了崭新的思路。

This study is to explore Howard Goldblatt＇s translation of the Chinese verb Shanshuo in Mo Yan＇s novels in order to construct the embodied-cognitive mechanisms and mental models for the semantic transfer of categories,and investigate the motivations for the translator＇s subjectivity interacting with the objectivity. The findings indicate that,in combination with the explicit and implicit contextual parameters,Shanshuo can be translated into diverse within-category concepts as well as crosscategory concepts apart from dozens of correspondent basic-category concepts. In order to explain its operation mechanisms and the motivations for translators＇ subjectivity interacting with the objectivity,this study aims to integrate the embodied-cognitive linguistics and the theories of mental models with the research of translatology,which not only has strong explanatory power for successful translation versions but also opens up brand-new thinking for the translation of other words and phrases.
