The Development and Construction of Chinese City Cluster

改革开放以来,中国城市化进程加速,形成了具有中国特色的城市群空间组织模式,并成为国家空间发展的重心。城市群的界定必须建立在都市区基础之上,根据设定的六项界定指标,利用"五普"数据,我国目前可以界定13个城市群。在利用"五普"和"六普"数据的基础上分析这些城市群的人口增长动态和城市化趋势。值得注意的是,在今后的城市群建设中,应注意发挥各级政府在城市群建设中的作用。

The rapid urbanization of China has formed a new spatial city clusters form, The State Council has issued a series of planning, and takes the city clusters as national and regional growth poles. This paper firstly reviews the problems in studing city cluster, and put forwards that the definition of city cluster must be based on metropolitan area. According to six indicators, the paper uses the data of China fifth census to definite 13 city clusters with a population of at least 10 millions in 2000. Then, the paper analyzes the growth trend of population of 13 city clusters using the data of fifth census and sixth census. On regional level, the paper measures the economic concentration index of 13 city clusters in terms of the city clusters＇ share of regional GDP. Lastly,the paper analyses the new trend of city clusters planning, and thinks that all governments at different levels should play roles in implementing city cluster strategy.
