Three Problems of Contemporary World and Three Kinds of Dialogism—A Speech Delivered at the Summit Forum on the Values of Cheng Hao and Cheng Yi's Rationalism

当今至少有三大问题在纠缠着我们,一是中国与西方的问题,二是人与自然的问题,三是天理与人欲的问题。因应这三大问题,本文提出全球对话主义、环境对话主义和德性对话主义。所谓"对话"首先是鼓励介入对话过程的各方充分发声,二是提倡各方之间的相互倾听。对话的哲学前提是承认各方有不可通约的生命存在及其本真性,同时对话又是向异己让渡本己的空间,是诚意的邀请和虚席以待。在充满各种利益冲突的时代,只有高扬对话精神,我们才可能获得一个和谐的世界。

Nowadays there are at least three problems which arise from the relation or tension between China and the West,human beings and nature,and heavenly reason and human desires respectively. To resolve these tough problems,this article suggests three kinds of dialogism： Global Dialogism,Environmental Dialogism and Ethical Dialogism. According to the proposed dialogism,each side involved in the dialogue is encouraged to fully utter its voice while attentively listening to others＇ voice. The premise of the dialogism is the recognition of the singularity and authenticity of each side as well as the reservation of a space for otherness to enter. In an era of increasingly intensified conflicts,only by dialogism could we perhaps survive.
