Review on the New School Textbook Editing Activities in the Reform Movement in 1898

维新运动时期,为了适应当时教育改革对教科书的需求,新式学堂积极投身于编辑教科书的活动中。其中,以南洋公学、京师大学堂为代表对编辑教科书进行了最初尝试。新式学堂参与近代教科书事业取得了一定成效,推动了教育体制由传统向近代转型的历史趋势。

During the Reform Movement in 1898,the New Schools actively participated in the activities of textbook editing,in order to adapt to the needs of providing textbooks for educational reform at that time. The first attempt at editing new textbooks was made by Nanyang College and Imperial University. The textbooks which were typical and representative had greatly promoted the transformation of the educational system from the traditional one to the modern one,catering to the historical trend henceforth.
