行为艺术是创作者以自己的身体行为为创作媒介,通过现场的活动来表达思想感情的一种艺术方式。行为艺术的创作往往触及法律和道德的边界,因此,行为艺术的边界问题也就成为一个理论探讨的问题。边界问题内在地与本质问题相勾连,对行为艺术边界问题的探讨必然要回到对行为艺术本质的审视。从哲学角度看,行为艺术是一种以身体感性为指向的问题主义的艺术。行为艺术蕴含创造活力,富有建设性的价值,它可以参与到新道德、新法律、新思想和新生活的建设中并发挥积极的作用。

Performance art is a form of art which conveys the emotion by means of different actions of the per- former on site. Due to the probability of tackling the ethical boundary and the boundary of the law, the bound- ary of performance art becomes a topic of theoretic exploration. The boundary of performance is closely related with its nature, thus a look needs to be performed. From the perspective of philosophy, performance art is problem-oriented, and conveyed through body sensibility, rooted in the problematies. Containing vitality and constructive value, performance art could participate in the construction of new morality, new law, new idea and new life, and exert active effort and play a positive role in social life.
