侯外庐对西北大学图书馆建设的历史贡献——兼论其图书馆建设思想及历史渊源

On the Historical Contributions by Hou Wailu to Library Development of NWU:A Probing into His Thoughts of Library Development

著名学者、教育家侯外庐非常注重图书资源的建设与利用。侯外庐担任西北大学校长期间,面对学校图书馆场地小、藏书数量少、人员配备不足、管理不善等现状,因时因地制宜,推出诸多建设举措,使学校图书馆得到了充分发展。其历史贡献主要体现在以下几个方面:扩建馆舍,购买设备,加强硬件设施建设;通过多种途径扩充图书馆资源;任人唯贤,强化业务管理工作;努力为读者提供优质服务。在实践过程中,侯外庐形成了别具一格的图书馆建设和发展思想,值得学习和借鉴。

Hou Wailu,the famous Chinese scholar and educator,has always devoted much attention to the development and utilization of the resources of libraries. When he held the position of the President of NWU,to solve the problems of limited space,lacking in book collection,being short of staff workers,and unsatisfactory management by he kept putting out a series of constructive measures to better improve the capacity of library service of NWU,giving consideration to the unique conditions of the university at that time. His major historical contributions to library development of NWU lie in the following aspects： first,extending the library building,purchasing necessary facilities and constructing the hard- ware facilities of the library; second,enhancing library resources through various channels; third,improving library management by promoting qualified staff members to proper positions,ect. In order to provide quality service to readers,he worked hard and evolved his creative thoughts on the library development,which is highly valued by the his followers today.
