Objective To explore the nursing methods for the using of venous indwelling needling in neonates. Methods 94 cases of neonates for treatment with venous indwelling needle admitted in our hospital from January 2013 to April 2015 were randomly selected and underwent different nursing regimens according to the order of admission. Control group was treated with routine clinical care; observation group was treated with targeted nursing related to venous indwelling needle. The incidence of neonatal phlebitis resulted from venous indwelling needle of two groups were observed. Results The total incidence of neonatal phlebitis and the incidence of grade II phlebitis of observation group were significantly lower than those of control group (6.38% vs.25.53%, 2.13% vs.14.89%), with statistically significant differences (P〈0.05); there were no statistically significant differences in the incidences of grade I, III neonatal phlebitis between two groups (P〉0.05). Conclusions The implementation of targeted and complete nursing care during using venous indwelling needle in neonates can reduce the risk of phlebitis effectively, which is also helpful to alleviating patients' pain; therefore, smooth progress of the treatment could be ensured.
