宋词英译:保留“长短句”形式与“时长线”

Using “Time Scale Line” to Keep the “Short and Long Sentences” Format:On Translating Ci Poems into English

宋词的"长短句"形式是其主要特征之一,但是在英译的过程中这个特征在很大程度上丢失了。而"长短句"形式这一鲜明特色是完全有必要也有可能保留的,译文应该在这个形式的框架下尽力传达出宋词的意、韵之美。可以在参照尤金·奈达的"功能对等"理论和沃尔特·本雅明的文学翻译理论基础上,使用"时长线"在译文中对宋词的形式进行弥补。

The ＂short and long sentences＂ format is one of the indispensable features of the Song Dynasty’s ci poems. Unfortunately,this feature has been largely ignored when the poems are translated into English. Nevertheless,in translation there is good reason to keep the ＂short and long sentences＂ format,a distinctive feature of ci poems. And there is much possibility to achieve this goal. Translations should attempt to convey the beauty of ci poems’ meter and artistic conception within this format. Based on Eugene Nida’s functional equivalence theory and Walter Benjamin’s literary translation theories,the ＂time scale line＂ can be used to help keep ci poems’ special format.
