Louise Erdrich＇s novels are integrated with rich Native American myths and historical events. The historical memory and ethnical memory of American Indian have been written into the landscapes. Land,lakes are more than simple spatial concepts, they have witnessed the changes of American Indian history. Animism is commonly seen in Native American＇s life,myths and stories of Father Sky and Mother Earth reveal unique American Indian culture at American frontier. By analyzing landscapes in the novels such as land, lake and Manitou, this paper studies how landscape imagination helps to construct ethnical culture. Verbal culture and landscape images are interwoven,creating the spiritual homeland of Native American.
