摘要 本文从历史的角度探讨应用语言学最初的定义及之后的拓展,首先从应用语言学诞生之初将其定义为语言教学研究的学科开始,然后到80年代应用语言学研究范围的延伸及其定义的复杂化、宽泛化,之后阐述了因应用语言学研究范围的拓宽而导致的定义困难,最后论述了语言教学是应用语言学的核心内容,不可因其定义的广化就割裂语言教学和应用语言学关系。 This paper discusses the initial definition of Applied Linguistics and its expansion through a historical perspective.At first, applied linguistics is defined as the study of language teaching and learning; then in 1980 s its definition is extended and complicated because of the expansion of its research scope, which brought difficulties in the definition of applied linguistics. At last, this paper analyzes that language teaching and learning is still the core of applied linguistics, and it is erroneous to isolate language teaching and learning from applied linguistics.
