Timmis的研究中未涉及对合并多种疾病的老年患者的管理，但这是临床中常见的问题。在临床试验中只有14％的参与者年龄超过75岁。然而心肌缺血国家审计项目（MINAP）注册数据显示大约40％的急性冠状动脉综合征患者处在这样的年龄组内。临床试验中的老年患者合并症相对较少，但这与临床实际情况并不相符。
