Chen Yi's Experience in Treating Chronic Gastritis

陈师对慢性胃炎注意辨病、辨证相结合。辨病时,既重临床症状,也重微观病理;辨证时,首辨虚实,再辨寒热。脾气虚弱之证用四君子汤(异功散、香砂六君子丸);木旺乘土、肝郁犯脾(或胃)之证用逍遥散(柴胡疏肝散);中焦虚寒,脾胃失和之证用小建中汤(黄芪建中汤);肝郁化火、胃失和降之证用左金丸;痰热蕴胆,胆热犯胃之证用温胆汤;胃阴亏虚之证用沙参麦冬汤(益胃汤)治疗时从以上各常用方中选择一主方或撷取多方中两三味主药,多法联用,灵活应用。陈老认为慢性胃炎发病除饮食不当之外,中老年女性尚多见与情绪抑郁、紧张有关;男性常见与喝酒、吸烟有关,故医生临证,对慢性胃炎患者之生活习惯不可不察,做好日常调养,配合中药,方能显效。

Doctor Chen values the combination of disease differentiation and syndrome differentiation in the treatment of chronic gastritis. In disease differentiation,both clinical symptoms and micro-pathology are valued. In syndrome differentiation,deficiency or excess is differentiated first and coldness or hotness is then differentiated. For syndrome of deficient spleen qi,Four Gentlemen Decoction（（ Special Achievement Powder,Costusroot and Amomum Six Gentlemen Decoction） is applied. For syndrome of liver depression attacking spleen（ or stomach）,Free Wanderer Powder（ Bupleurum Liver-Soothing Powder） is used. For deficient cold of the middle energizer and syndrome of disharmony between the spleen and stomach,Minor Center-Fortifying Decoction（ Astragalus Center-Fortifying Decoction） can be used. For liver depression transforming fire and syndrome of stomach qi failing to descend,Left Metal Pill is applied. For phlegm-heat accumulating in the gallbladder and syndrome of gallbladder-fire attacking the stomach,Gallbladder-Warming Decoction is applied. For syndrome of stomach yin deficiency,Radix Adenophorae and Ophiopogon Decoction（ Stomach-Benefiting Decoction） is applied. In the treatment,one dominant formula among the above mentioned can be selected or choose two or three dominant herbs in the above formulas,with combination of multiple methods and flexible application. According to Doctor Chen,beside improper diet,the cause of chronic gastritis in middle-aged and old woman is related with depression and anxiety while in male it is related with drinking and smoking. Therefore,the life habits of the patients should also be inspected. Effects can only be achieved by the combination of good daily regulation and proper application of Chinese medicine.
