Image guided surgery has shown increasing importance as the public is in need of a surgical procedure that is minimally invasive, requires short recovery time, and can be performed in a safer and more efficient way. Current researches focus on how to utilize medical images to guide preoperative planning and to intraoperatively ensure real-time diagnosis, high-accurate operation, and high-efficient treatment. This paper proposed a surgical navigation technique and system for specific clinical scenarios, and provided an integral videography three-dimensional(3D) image based high-precision augmented reality. Key technologies involved in the surgical navigation system were also introduced. The surgical tools can be tracked in real time and updated in 3D display. Using 3D image overlay system, 3D autostereoscopic images of critical anatomy structures and tools can be observed with naked eyes in surgical scene. The proposed system can provide intuitive and precise guidance for surgeons by providing a "see-through" 3D augmented scene.
