互联网在全球范围内特别是在中国的迅速扩展 ,对传统社会产生了冲击和挑战 ,信息文明推动了社会的发展和科技的进步。同时 ,网络的发展也对社会产生了某些负面影响 ,如网络色情、网络犯罪等等。各种网络社会现象引起社会的普遍争议 ,建立中国网络社会学开始摆上议事日程。网络社会学 ,其定义可初步为“网络社会学是一门研究在特定的网络社会生存方式下的团体和个人 (网民 )以及家庭、社区、政府、企业等机构、组织的社会生活 (活动 )的发展、变化规律的科学”。研究对象、范畴可基本分为 :网民的特征和心理、网站的类别和作用、网络的生存和现实意义等。网络社会学可以采用调查研究、比较研究、资料研究、技术研究等方法。

That Internet spreads rapidly over the world and China especially ,challenges tradition society. Information civilization promotes social development and technical progress. Meanwhile, development of network brings about some negative effect on society, such as network eroticism and network crime. The wide debates on social problems let by network makes the agenda of establishment of Chinese Sociology of network. The Sociology of Network can be defined as “a study of development and regularity of social lives (activities) of individual, organization and structure like corporate, family, community, and government, under the life style affected by network socially.' The subject and categories of Sociology of Network are the feature and mentality of wangmin, the class and function of network site, the existential and significant of network , and the method of it may be case study, comparative analysis and data and technical analysis, etc.
