On Indonesia's Post Cold War Policy toward the South China Sea and its Interests Considerations

印度尼西亚在南海问题上虽未提出主权要求,但十分关注南海局势的发展,并制定了相应政策。维护纳土纳群岛及其海域安全是印尼南海政策的根本立足点,因此,应对来自中国的潜在威胁也成为其南海政策的重要内容。积极调解南海争端以提升本国在地区和国际事务中的地位和作用,是印尼南海政策追求的目标之一。

Although Indonesia has not made sovereign claims on the South China Sea issue, it has followed closely the development of the situation in the South China Sea and formulated corresponding policies. As safeguarding the security of Natuna Islands and its adjacent seas is the basic footing of Indonesia's South China Sea policy, to cope with the potential threat from China is also included as the major content in such policy. Getting actively involved in the mediation of the South China Sea dispute so as to raise its position and role in the regional and international affairs is one of the goals Indonesia's South China Sea policy is after.
