景颇语的基数词--兼与汉语等亲属语言比较

Cardinal Numerals in the Jingpho Language:with Reference to Chinese and Other Related Languages

景颇语基数词是"十进位"系统的,但有不同于亲属语言的特点。"一、二"各有两个,二者的用法受数词序列系统及句法韵律的制约。"十"以内的基数词均是固有词,"百"以上的位数词都是借词;与汉语等亲属语言相比,景颇语基擞词的构词和文化功能较弱。

This paper analyzes certain synchronic characteristics of the cardinal numbers in Jingpho language.It argues that the cardinal numbers in Jingpho have a few characteristics distinct from those in related languages,though both Jingpho and the related languages employ the decimal system for the cardinal numbers.Each of the digits 1 and 2 can be represented by two numerals;the usages of each pair are subject to restrictions of consecutive numbering and syntactic prosody.The cardinal numerals in Jingpho show traces of an open system in that the numerals have different origins：the numerals from 1 to 10 are native words,while numerals for place terms representing powers of 10 greater than 1 are all loanwords.When compared with their counterparts in related languages such as Chinese,numerals in Jingpho are less productive in forming new words and conveying culture-specific connotations.
