An analysis of the folk culture in English idioms

语言是文化的载体,是人类文化传播的重要工具。文章以英语习语为切入点,着重从节日民俗、居住民俗、饮食民俗及数字民俗四方面分析英语习语中的民俗文化,从而通过加深对英语民族文化的了解来提高跨文化的语言交际能力。

Language is the carrier of culture and it is also an important tool for the dissemination of human culture. Taking English idioms as the breakthrough point, this thesis mainly analyzes the folk culture in English idioms from four aspects, which are the festival folklore, residential folklore, diet folklore and digital folklore.
