“任性”的翻译

Analysis of the English Translation of “Renxing”

"任性"是汉语的固定词组,原指放任自己的性子,不加约束。日前,由于种种原因,"任性"一词在网络上流行起来,文章从语用学中"语境观"和"顺应论"及其理论框架入手,探讨英汉"任性"的翻译,并提出译者需在翻译过程中采用恰当的翻译策略,动态顺应原语或译语的语境。

＂Renxing＂is a pair of set phrase in the Chinese language,which literally means that one indulges himself in nature without any restrictions. Recently,the phrase＂Renxing＂is coming into vogue on the internet due to some reasons. This paper probes into the English translation of ＂Renxing＂from the perspective of ＂contextualism＂and ＂linguistic adaptation theory＂. It is argued that translators should adopt appropriate translating strategies in the process of translating and thus dynamically adapting to the context.
