The meaning derived from the Japanese ＂ 5S＂ management,purpose and main points were described.Current situation and problems of chemical laboratory in universities were pointed out. Combined with the characteristic of chemical laboratory and the actual situation,the measures and methods of implementation of 5S management in chemical laboratory were proposed. The responsibilities and problems of comprehensive promotion of ＂ 5S＂ in the management in Basic Chemistry Laboratory were pointed out.
