The Rhetorical Narrative Theory represented by American famous classical rhetorical narrative theorist James Phelan is an important school among post-modern narrative theories.Based on Phelan's rhetorical narrative theory, the author makes a tentative analysis of the movie " My Deskmate",including the use of rhetorical narrative, such as the narrative process,a variety of judgments and so on.Thereby, the article explains the correspondence between the theory and the movie, trying to find in the movie if there are subtle existence of the rhetorical narrative theory, and if there is a new development of the narrative theory. Finally,it makes a brief comment and outlook on this theory.
