An Analysis of Wang Fuzhi's Criticism of Du Fu

王夫之的非杜批评包括:质疑杜甫的忠君爱国;反对"诗史说";批判杜诗"诞于言志";批判杜诗的直露和以议论入诗;认为"杜诗不足学",抑杜扬李。王夫之的非杜批评并不影响杜诗的经典地位,反而更清晰地展现了杜甫在中国古典诗歌史上继往开来的地位,既继承了汉魏六朝的审美传统,又开创了诗歌注重写实和以文为诗的新方向。

Wang Fuzhi＇s criticism of Du Fu includes： questioning Du Fu＇s loyalty and patriotism,objecting to his view on ＂history of poetry＂,criticizing Du Fu for his wild express his emotion and adelition of argument into poetry. He thinks that Du Fu can not serve as a role model. He depreciates Du Fu but praises Li Bai. Wang Fuzhi＇s criticisms of Du Fu do not affect the classic status of Du Fu,but more clearly show Du Fu＇position of carrying forward the cause and forging ahead into the future in the history of Chinese classical poetry,which not only inherits the aesthetic tradition of the Han,Wei,Jin,Southern and Northern Dynasties,but also creates the new direction of poetry as prose.
