Reflection on the Development of the Chinese Traditional Music

中国传统音乐的发展犹如一匹脱缰的骏马,在不断告别自己的历史向前狂奔。尤其是近当代以来受到西方音乐文化的深刻影响,集体无意识地向着西化发展。然而,问题是西方人不觉得中国的民乐是中国传统音乐,中国人也不会感到它是西方音乐。这种传统音乐西洋化的窘态在亚洲诸国鲜有所见。文章就此展开讨论,对中国传统音乐的形成、发展提出自己尖锐的批评和建设性意见。

The development of the Chinesetraditional music is like a horse running away from its own history without any reins. It has been especially influenced by the western culture deeply in recentyears and movestowards westernization unconsciously. However, the westerners do not relate the Chinese folk-instrument orchestrato the Chinesetraditional music, at the same time the Chinese audience denies them as western music. Such embarrassment oftraditional music being westernized is rarely seen in o ther Asian countries. This essay attemptsto start a discussion and offer some critical and constructive opinions.
