Yantai—Origin of the Chinese Mantis Boxing

螳螂拳是中国著名的传统武术流派,是山东四大名拳之一,也是首批被国家体育总局武术运动管理中心列入系统研究整理的传统武术九大流派之一。螳螂拳的形成发展,凝聚了明末清初众多武术流派之长而成,仅依拳谱所载就有＂十八家拳祖姓名＂之说,可以说,螳螂拳是中国古代武术文化的载体。螳螂拳发源于山东烟台。

Originated in Yantai,the mantis boxing is a well-known school of traditional martial arts and one of the four most famous boxing in Shandong.The Yantai people attached importance to martial arts from ancient times and many people learned and practiced the mantis boxing.As one of the cities that earliest opened as the business ports.Yantai's frequent economic and cultural exchanges with foreign countries and regions enabled the mantis boxing to get prevalent lastly and broadly.The mantis boxing spread with great impact from Yantai to Qingdao in the Jiaodong Peninsular;to the three province in the northeast and Beijing.Tianjin and Hebei in the north:to Shanghai,Guangdong.Hongkong,and Taiwan in the south;and to such countries as Russia,USA.Germany,Poland.Japan.ROK.Italy.Austria and Vietnam
