The equivalence of the canonical equations of motion and the Liouville equation at the microscopic level is clarified. Works of Onsager, Prigogine and others in the field of linear and non-linear non-equilibrium thermodynamics are reviewed. Finally, the physi- cal implication of the microscopic entropy operator and the internal time op- erator are discussed.
