近代民间水浒故事数量众多且与清代及前代不同。上世纪以来,水浒故事发源地对近代民间水浒故事的搜集整理工作取得了很大进展,各种选本层出不穷;研究过程中,学界对古代民间水浒故事因小说《水浒传》的原因多有注意,研究成果丰富,对近代民间水浒故事的关注与研究则寥寥无几;研究与文献整理之间的失衡说明研究过于滞后,且也因进展缓慢存在着诸多问题,而这也为民间水浒故事的研究提供了更多有待改进的空间。
