Wei Yuan's New Relationship between Great Powers——Based on the Sino- U. S. relation

魏源在《海国图志》一书中,对清王朝闭关锁国、盲目自大的天朝大国思想进行了严厉抨击,并根据当时的世界形势,勾画出一副世界性新型大国关系图,提出了"以夷攻夷、以夷款夷、师夷长技以制夷"的处理国际关系的谋略。他的思想在后世产生了实效,当今亦应继承与发扬。

Wei Yuan attacked trenchantly the late Qing Empire's view s of 'Celestial Empire'and blind arrogance of seclusion in his book World G eography Records,delineated the relationship betw een great pow ers based on the w orld situation of that time,and put forw ard the strategy of dealing w ith international relations,i. e.,'learning from the advanced technologies in the West in order to resist the invasion of the Western pow ers'. His thought had a real impact on the later ages and should be inherited and developed at present.
