The Flanders Road is a war novel written by the 1985 French Nobel laureate Claude Simon. From the perspective of women in the war, the novel tackles themes such as marriage, sex and family to voice the author＇s humanistic care for women. The vague female identity, the female sensual images and the allegorical representation of perceptual images in this novel fully demonstrate Simon＇s concept of characterization.
