The tombs of the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi Dynasties in the Ye City area can be divided into the three large zones, which were the imperial family tomb zone of the Eastern Wei Dynasty, the imperial family tomb zone of the Northern Qi Dynasty and that of the middle- and low-ranking officials and the common people. Generally these tombs were distributed five to fifteen li away from the Ye City, the lower the ranks and statuses of the tomb occupants were, the farther their tombs were located away from the capital. In the tomb groups, the arrangements of "clan burials" are obvious: in a clan cemetery, the tombs were arranged by generation and kinship from south to north, or arranged into two lines, the tombs in the south one of which were in higher position. The burial institutions of the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi Dynasties succeeded the traditions from the Qin and Han Dynasties but also had some innovations, and they directly influenced the burial institutions of the Sui and Tang Dynasties and the following periods.
