China's Overseas Infrastructure Investment: Risks from Local Social Organizations and Countermeasures

近年来,随着中国对海外能源及交通基础设施项目的投资规模不断扩大,东道国的社会组织风险对投资项目造成的负面影响日益显现。社会组织风险缘于东道国内政、社会组织的环保和维权诉求、外部势力的影响以及中国企业自身不足等因素,不仅会造成投资损失,还会对中国对外经济战略的实施及国家形象造成负面影响。中国企业需通过强化项目前期准备、重视与当地社会组织的沟通等方式,保障中国对外基础设施投资项目与对外经济战略的稳步推进。

In recent years,the world has witnessed the rapid expansion of Chinese international economic influence,especially in the scale of overseas investment in energy and transportation infrastructures. Meanwhile,social organizations in host countries are posing greater threats to China'investment projects. Risks from local organizations originate from domestic politics of host countries,demands for environmental protection and human rights from local social organizations,manipulations of external factors,and deficiencies of Chinese enterprises as well. The risks from social organizations will not only cause huge investment losses on Chinese side,but adversely affect Chinese international economic strategy and national image. In order to insure the steady progress of China's foreign investment in infrastructure projects,Chinese enterprises need to take more concrete measures in advance to make full preparations and better communications with local social organizations.
