The rising incidence of anxiety and depression and other mental illnesses caused by the body′s stress response for a long time poses a serious threat to human health and social development. Many studies have shown that stress can lead to intestinal flora disorder, and mental diseases by affecting neural pathways,as well as immune inflammation by inducing bacterial translocation.Natural polyphenols compounds have a variety of physiological activities. Most of polyphenols are degraded by intestinal flora in the intestinal tract before being absorbed in the forms of their prototypes.Polyphenols can adjust the compositions and structures of disturbed intestinal flora in body under stress response condition, restore the dynamic balance,as well as improve the body′s symptoms such as anxiety and depression caused by various stress factors.
