程小青是著名的现代侦探小说翻译家、作家。但是,因其鸳鸯蝴蝶派文人之列,而屡遭"封建、保守、落后"的诟病,被冠以"旧派文人"之名。质而言之,程小青的侦探小说翻译与创作均具备现代性的特征:科技新知与道德关怀的启蒙现代性,白话语言与叙事策略的审美现代性,寓教于乐与出版传媒的通俗现代性。因此,程小青译著侦探小说呈现出的文学现代性景观,具有崭新的文学史意义。

Cheng Xiaoqing is a well-received translator and writer of modern detective novels.However,he has been criticized for his ＂feudalism,conservatism and backward＂,and viewed as ＂old-fashioned litterateur＂,resulting from his belonging to ＂Mandarin Duck Butterfly School＂ literati.In nature,Cheng＇s detective novels,both translated and created,take on the modernity features,such as the enlightening modernity in technological knowledge and moral solicitude,esthetic modernity in vernacular and narrative strategy,and feuilletonist modernity in teaching through lively activities and publication media.Therefore,the overall literature modernity of Cheng＇s detective novels is of great significance in literature history.
