The book Cai Gen Tan was written in Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, a book that includes quotations about self-cultivation, life, behavior, ways of life, and so on for which it once became guiding principles for ancient people to manage their behavior. Thoughts of cultivating moral characters, avoiding seeking fame and material benefits, integrity for the public good are enlightening and worth being referred to by contemporary leaders and officials for them to discipline themselves, to be indifferent to fame and profits and to use their power for the public.
