四川美术学院的自选作品展，始于1985年4月23日，展览过程贯穿整个八五美术时期。所渭自选，即采用“展品不拘内容和形式”，“不展课堂作业”，学生“自我审查、自己装潢、自己布置”的展览方式，具有极大自主性。《自选方式——1985—1989四川美术学院自选作品展回顾与文献展》以史实考据为主，在创作回顾与文献展示的基础上，深入挖掘自选作品展的历史价值，确立其在当代美术史中的应有历史地位。

Self-selected works of SCFAI, throughout the period of 1985 New Wave period, began on April 23rd, 1985.
