Folk Belief in Human Beings, Ghosts and Gods in Ancient Residences in Wenzhou

温州古民居是礼俗生活的承载者,将人、鬼、神进行有序合理的空间处置,并建构起居住空间的神灵世界、祖先世界和人的生活世界。人、鬼、神共存于温州古民居半开放结构中,为人们建立起心灵上的防御体系,并通过岁时节日的祭祀礼拜和人生仪礼的举行,实现人、鬼、神交流的目的。

With human beings, ghosts and gods placed in the orderly and rational space, a gods’ world, ancestors’ world and human beings’ living world were built in the living space in ancient residences in Wenzhou. Human beings, ghosts and gods coexisted in ancient residences’ half-opened structure in Wenzhou, which contributed to a spiritual defensive system for people, and achieved the goal of communication among human beings, ghosts and gods by means of sacrificial rites held in annual festivals and life ceremonies.
