“四重忧患”伴“三关失守”——我国翻译专业研究生教育何去何从?

What China's MTI Education Program Is Being Plagued with?

我国翻译专业研究生教育自2006年正式建立以来取得了一些成绩,但是面临的问题也正变得越来越严重。这些问题概括起来是:"身体虚胖","先天不足","软肋明显","预后不良","语言不过关","老师不称职","评估不合理"。这些问题的造成主要是由于对举办这个教育项目普遍热情有余而能力与准备不足,而这些问题若不能得到正视与解决,我国的翻译专业研究生教育的前景是堪忧的。本文作者基于实际考虑,有针对性地提出八条建议来解决这些问题,以期引起同仁们的进一步关注与讨论,共同为我国的翻译专业研究生教育走向可持续发展献计献策。

China's MTI education program launched in 2006 is now facing serious problems that must be dealt with seriously. These problems include irregular expansion of the program across the country,failure to adhere to its practical orientation,lack of a competent army of teaching staff,insufficient attention to the basic language skills on the part of the students and an incorrect approach to the assessment of the program's pilot efforts. The main reason behind the unfortunate situation is that the program was launched with perhaps more enthusiasm than real conditions can guarantee. Something must be done to save the program from going into a total crisis. Among the solutions offered are resetting the goal of the program with a clear pragmatic orientation,reshuffle the whole curriculum arrangement with a view to enabling the students to be really trained as future translators and interpreters,and to change the way in which pilot efforts are assessed reasonably.
