An Empirical Study on the Employability of MTI Students

本文通过北京一所211重点高校三届英语MTI毕业生的就业数据,调查和分析翻译硕士专业学位研究生的就业状况和能力。研究发现:实施"分类分层、就业导向"的培养模式,对提高MTI毕业生的就业能力具有正面影响;毕业生家庭背景总体上对就业领域和就业层次影响最为显著;家庭背景因素对普通家庭毕业生的就业能力和就业层次影响不大。本研究针对MTI就业和培养模式引出启示和思考,提出以行业和就业需求来培养复合型翻译人才,试点统考在职模式和校企协同模式,培养服务于"一带一路"国家战略和中国文化及企业"走出去"所急需的专业人才。

This paper investigates and analyzes a 211 key university's MTI students' employment situation and ability. Through 3years‘ MTI students' employment data,the study finds that: first,using stratified,classified,job-hunting orientated education model has a positive impact on raising MTI students' employability and broaden their employment; second,among a variety of employability factors,MTI students' family background has the most significant impacts on employment field and level in all; while ordinary families' background has minor influences on employment field and level. This study tells us when cultivation objective is not agreed upon,we need to adjust it in time. We need to cultivate versatile MTI students who can keep pace with profession and employment need. We can use a pilot project to enroll part-time MTI students who also have passed the national graduate entrance exam and create a university-enterprise cooperation model. We need to cultivate professional students who can better meet the need of 'One Belt And One Road' initiative.
