College English teaching plays the main role in the process of improving the quality of education. It is the goal for all university educators to understand the current teaching problems correctly,to overcome the deficiency of inadequate recognition of teaching objectives,and to improve the autonomous learning ability of students.This paper analyzes and reveals the essence the current status of autonomous learning. It hopes to provide some useful strategies and experiences for enhancing this ability.
