文化负载词的翻译——以杨宪益、戴乃迭译本《朝花夕拾》为例

On C- E Translation of Culture- Loaded Words——A Case Study of English Version of Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk

通过实证研究,探讨了杨宪益、戴乃迭英译本《朝花夕拾》中文化负载词的翻译策略和翻译方法,详细分析了杨宪益、戴乃迭夫妇处理文化负载词的方法和策略,分析了他们处理文化负载词的可取之处以及合理之处。最后通过统计分析,认为翻译工作者可以把"目的论"作为处理文化负载词的宏观指导理论,在目的论的指导下,只要能最大限度地保留文化负载词的蕴涵意义,可以交替使用归化和异化翻译策略去处理文化负载词。

By means of an empirical study,this paper discusses the translation strategies and methods adopted by Yang Xianyi in the English version of Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk,from which this paper collects all the Chinese culture- loaded words,and then classifies them. Through the statistical analysis method,the paper analyzes the translation strategies and methods adopted by Yang Xianyi. Finally,it concluds that the Skopos theory can serve as a macroscopic guiding theory for translating Chinese culture-loaded words. Under the guidance of the Skopos theory,foreignization and domestication should be used alternately when translators translate Chinese culture- loaded words into English. If the connotative meanings of Chinese culture- loaded words can be retained as much as possible and the translated text can be easily understood by the target readers,any translation strategy and method is good. Based on the context,priority should be given to the connotation of the culture- loaded words in the C- E translation.
