A Criticism of the Skopostheorie

翻译目的论主张用自己当前的目的、意图、计划、需要、用途等来对原文进行取舍和利用,这是对原文的简化、遮蔽和限制。这种以自我为中心的、自以为是的、傲慢的唯我论缺乏对原文整全性的认识和对原文自身价值的尊重。翻译目的论所秉持的是一种典型的精英主义立场,它不相信读者能够与原文直接对话,而必须由它来对原文进行加工处理之后,原文方可为读者所接受。

The proposition of the Skopostheorie that the source text be translated,interpreted or used in such a way that the goals, purposes, expectations, needs, plans or concerns of the recipient are satisfied rather than the value of the source text itself is respected is none other than arrogant solipsism and elitism. The elitism of the Skopostheorists also lies in the fact that they does not believe that the reader is able to have a direct dialogue with the source text but that the source text has to be processed by them before it is accessible to the reader.
