摘要
文章以韩礼德的语篇元功能为理论依据,主要援引常用的主述位推进模式分类方法,分析杨宪益和霍克斯的两大《红楼梦》译本是如何实现翻译中的语篇功能对等的。通过对比发现:杨译保留了更多汉语语言的特色,主位推进模式往往与原文一致,最大程度上保留了源语的语篇功能;霍译重交际效果,主位推进模式常与原文有明显不同,而采用了更多衔接机制使译文符合英语的形合特点,译文颇显文采却难免偶有过译之嫌。
Adopting theme-rheme progression al function in translation rid Hawkes. It has been source text, retaining the Halliday's Textual Metafunction as a theoretical foundation and the commonly used patterns as the framework, this study explores the realization of equivalence of textuby comparing and analyzing the translations by Yang Xianyi & Gladys Yang and Dafound that in most cases, Yang's version conforms to the progression pattern of the language features and textual function of the source language. Meanwhile, there are discrepancies of the progression patterns and more cohesion devices in Hawkes' translation, showing his focus on communicative effect. Although Hawkes' version manifests his literary talent, it may be criticized for overtranslation.
