Application of TBL in the Grammar Teaching for English Major Students in Independent Institutes

TBL以真实交际为主要目的,主张在现实生活和实际情境中使用语言。英语语法主要是规范语言的使用,使之符合英语的表达方式。语法教学旨在帮助学生更好地在交际活动中规范使用英语语言。而较于一本二本高校的学生,独立学院英语专业学生在语法方面显得薄弱。在独立学院英语专业语法课堂中使用TBL教学法开展课堂活动,有利于提高学生参与课堂活动的积极性和主动性,同时也改变了传统的教师"一言堂"的上课模式,真正做到以学生为中心,以教师为主导,让学生在课堂中更好地提高学习效率。

TBL aims at real communication and it insists on using the language in the real life and the practical communication environments. The English grammar exists to confine and restrict people on how to express what they want to say with the rules of English language. The grammar course is set up to help students understand the rules that English requires to follow in the usage of the language. Compared with those in the prestigious and ordinary universities,the English major students from the Independent Institutes are weaker in grammar. The application of TBL in the grammar course for English major students in independent institutes would be helpful in enhancing the students＇ learning enthusiasm and activeness in the class. Meanwhile it can also help to change the traditional class centered on the teacher into the new pattern characterized by ＂students to be the center and teacher to be the guide＂,so that students can really participate in the class activities,and therefore,improve their language ability.
