托马斯·阿奎那是中世纪经院哲学的集大成者,而伦理学是他十分关注的一个领域,他的伦理学可以概括为一种通过多种美德的发展达到自我完善的伦理学,这意味着在本质上它是目的论的。我们可以得出,他把自我完善,亦即人类的善作为人类活动的目的,所以"善"作为其伦理学的起点,不得不被我们所重视,至善思想在托马斯·阿奎那伦理学中有着重要意义。

Thomas Aquinas was a master of medieval scholasticism,ethics was one of his concerns. His ethics can be summarized as a self- improvement process through the development of a variety of virtues,which means teleological in nature. We can draw that he put the self perfection of human activity as the purpose,namely,the human’s goodness. So ＂goodness＂as its ethical starting point,had to be our attention,and ＂the highest goodness＂also just is the ultimate goal of his ethics,so the highest goodness in the Thomas Aquinas ethics has a important significance.
